Meliora Bio

Meliora Bio is further developing the world's first full-scale second-generation bioethanol plant, which will, among other things, produce second-generation bioethanol - a fuel made from agricultural and forestry residues. The plant has been shut down since 2014, but will be back in operation by summer 2022. To that end, Meliora Bio has struck a deal with a Canadian company, Comet Bio, to build a plant next to the refinery. Here, a residual stream of hemicellulose from the plant will be purified and concentrated into a fibre material. The material will be used to produce prebiotics, an ingredient in food to ensure healthy gut flora.
