On 30 October, Kalundborg Symbiosis was awarded the Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements Award (SCAHSA) in the category "Global Green Park". The award was presented to Kalundborg Symbiosis on the occasion of the 13th Global Forum on Human Settlements, which was held in Bangkok, Thailand, at the UN Conference Centre organised by the Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS), with the support of UNESCAP (United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific).
In their justification, the committee had emphasized that Kalundborg Symbiosis is a pioneer and a best-practice example of the circular and resilient economy, which has demonstrated, among other things, the successful implementation of public-private partnerships, as well as the ongoing and ambitious plans and strategies to achieve a greener and more sustainable development.
The award was presented to a representative from Kalundborg Symbiosis and representatives from one of the partners, Novo Nordisk, on Tuesday evening at an award ceremony where our new promo video was also shown.
In addition, our representative also presented our commitment at the World Cities Day 2018 ceremony, where he presented the commitment that Kalundborg Symbiosis is making to help solve some of the problems facing the world. In addition, he also presented Kalundborg Symbiosis' case in a panel on Robust and Circular Economy along with another impressive cases from around the world. The rest of the programme of the Global Forum on Human Settlements 2018 also offered many other exciting examples of how we can address not just SDG11, but all the SDGs, which are all interlinked.
We are of course extremely honoured and proud to receive this prestigious award and hope that it will help us spread the symbiotic mindset to even more international stakeholders. Both those who have already implemented circular concepts, but also those who would like to get started.
