On May 20, Bigadan inaugurated a new CO₂ facility at Kalundborg Bioenergi, marking an important milestone for the green transition and the development of negative emissions in Europe.
With this facility, one of the world’s first complete and commercial value chains for the capture, transport, and permanent storage of biogenic CO₂ from biogas has become a reality. The CO₂ is captured from biogas production based on agricultural and industrial waste products, then transported to the North Sea for permanent storage as part of Project Greensand.
The facility is expected to capture 27,000 tons of CO₂ annually and serves as an important example of how industrial partnerships and new technologies can support the development of more circular and climate-friendly solutions.
