New Strategy for 2035
Kalundborg is poised to strengthen its position as a global benchmark for circular and sustainable industrial collaboration. This ambition lies at the heart of the new Strategy 2035 for Kalundborg Symbiosis, adopted at the annual general meeting on March 23.
The strategy sets the course for the next phase of development, reinforcing Kalundborg’s role as both a strong local industrial partnership and an international leader in industrial symbiosis. The ambition is clear: to further develop Kalundborg Symbiosis as the world’s leading example of industrial symbiosis in practice.
Strategy 2035 focuses on:
• Developing 10 new symbiosis streams between companies
• Strengthening the framework conditions for sustainable and circular industry
• Positioning Kalundborg as a hub for learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing on industrial symbiosis
New leadership team at Kalundborg Symbiosis
The election of a new leadership team marks an important step in the implementation of Strategy 2035.
Stine Gry Roland, Head of Public Affairs for Novo Nordisk Production, continues as Chair of the Board. She brings extensive experience in board governance, manufacturing, strategy and business development, partnerships, as well as in-depth knowledge of Kalundborg and the symbiosis collaboration.
Ghita Hansen, Vice President at Novonesis, has been elected as Vice Chair of the Board. She brings many years of experience in production, quality, and strategic development. Ghita Hansen succeeds Claus Navntoft, Managing Director of Kalundborg Refinery.

From Strategy to Vision: Opening the Symbiosis to the World
With Strategy 2035, Kalundborg Symbiosis is entering a new phase focused on strengthening its global position and impact. While the strategy sets the direction for continued industrial development and collaboration, new initiatives are exploring how to share this unique model more broadly.
One such initiative is Experimentarium Symbiosis, a vision for a new attraction in Kalundborg that will bring the principles of industrial symbiosis to life for visitors, partners, and future generations. The newly released concept presents its vision, potential, and plans, and how it could further position Kalundborg as an international hub for learning, innovation, and sustainable solutions.
